New York City Hall and Hoboken Waterfront Wedding | Laura and Shi

It’s a rainy Friday morning in New York City, but Laura and Shi came prepared. Armed with clear umbrellas and Hunter rain boots, the couple said their vows in an intimate City Hall ceremony before we piled into a cab headed for New Jersey, hoping to get some Hoboken waterfront wedding shots with views of the city skyline.
Sadly, no dice. A thick fog settled along the water in a complete white out, and with the winter rain beating down, I thought for a moment that we might just nix the shots altogether. Instead, the newlyweds decided — hey, let’s just do this — and the next thing I knew, we’d left their parents in the hotel lobby to warm up, they’d gotten rid of their umbrellas altogether and we were having a fantastic time frolicking about in the rain.
Later, I learned that we were in full view of the patrons sipping hot toddies at the hotel bar, with them audibly asking, “Who are those crazy people out in the rain?” and pressing their noses to the glass. “Crazy” people making a spectacle in the rain? I’ll take that as a compliment.
