Cop Cot Wedding in Central Park NYC | Kavisha + Hamish
There’s something about a Cop Cot wedding that just feels like a secret hideaway in the middle of the chaos that is New York City. Nestled right in Central Park, Cop Cot is a rustic wooden gazebo perched on a little hill, with sweeping views of the park and the city peeking through the trees. It’s intimate, charming, and honestly, one of my favorite spots for a small NYC elopement.
When Kavisha and Hamish reached out and said they wanted to get married in NYC from the UK, opting for a no-fuss but still classy wedding in New York, I knew Cop Cot was going to be perfect for them. Rather than having a big, fat Indian wedding back home in London, the pair craved something more intimate. A Cop Cot wedding checks all the boxes: it’s private without being isolated, central but still tucked away, and it has that romantic, almost storybook look that feels timeless.
The pair said their vows with a few select friends as witnesses, then made a few stops around town to round out their day. First, a trip to Campbell Bar to celebrate their newlywed status with some old fashioneds. Later, we headed to Brooklyn Bridge Park for a carousel ride, stroll along the promenade and wander through DUMBO. Though we covered a lot of ground, it was relaxed, simple and 100% them. A picture-perfect NYC elopement? I’d say so.
How to Plan Your Own Cop Cot Wedding
Central Park wedding permit: Even though Central Park doesn’t require permits for groups under 20, I always recommend it — for $25, you get the peace of mind that another couple hasn’t already snagged the spot.
Best time to get married at Cop Cot: Late afternoon and early evening tends to have the best lighting. Weekdays are best if you want fewer people around.
Keep it simple: One of the best things about a Cop Cot wedding is how little you need to make it magical. Since the greenery and rustic gazebo has already given it a romantic aesthetic, a bouquet, your vows, and a great photographer (hi!) go a long way.
