In her initial email reaching out to me, Katie described her and Jorge’s wedding at MyMoon as “just a small family ceremony” and “nothing too crazy.” And while technically accurate, those descriptors just don’t do their day justice.

I found the groom playing video games with his best friends, and the bride doing her own hair and makeup in an Airbnb. The pair’s vibe was everything a photographer dreams of: playful, super in love, and not at all fazed by the suggestion of wading through dead leaves to get to the only patch of early spring greenery in McCarran Park. Perhaps I should’ve guessed that they would be so easy-going and down for adventure; after all, the couple met while playing adult recreational kickball (yes, a totally normal thing in NYC).

Their wedding was super intimate and laid-back, perpetuated by an ace bridal party and carbs and champagne flowing all night. Rest assured: this was the best kind of “nothing too crazy” wedding I’ve ever seen.
